Hermes is the School of Computing and Engineering's Secondary Student Webserver, mainly providing resources for external groups and staff within the School. It is maintained by the Unix Systems Administrator, within the Technical Support Team
This server provides a limited set of resources for users. The primary webserver is Helios, which hosts student webspace and teaching resources
The server is a Unix system, running Solaris 10, and this then runs Apache 2 for the provision of web services. Access is via Secure Shell or Secure FTP - Telnet and FTP are not permitted off-campus. Accounts on this server are by request only.
